Alisha Malhotra's Bright Start Scholarship Programme
04 Jan 2021
Alisha Malhotra, in conjunction with One Kind Act and YUVA Unstoppable, is delighted to announce her Bright Start Scholarship Programme:'Five years ago, after suffering a stroke, I had to put my teaching career on hold. The work I did empowered children to stand on their own two feet. Five years on, I'm returning to education. In partnership with One Kind Act and Yuva Unstoppable, I'm launching Bright Start - An Educational Scholarship Programme to help some of the brightest but most marginalised children in India. Our 6-year programme of education, mentoring and support will help children from 15 years old, through to university and then their first job. This life-changing opportunity will not only help our little heroes but will provide a sustainable solution to helping their own communities in the long term. More than donating money, we are offering you an opportunity to adopt a child for six years. You can get to know them personally, help them grow and inspire them to dream……and together, we can build India's future leaders.' Alisha Malhotra The Cycle of PovertyThe Problem? - Only up to 50% of India’s children go to school, of which 71% come from impoverished backgrounds but who invariably have to drop out of school by the age of 15Why? For reasons totally out of their control - their family poverty, child exploitation, forced marriages, poor teaching, lack of school meals…this sad list is endless. The Impact? This drop-out pattern means these children never get out of their poverty cycle and cannot aspire to dreams they are capable of fulfilling. The Solution? Alisha Malhotra Bright Start Scholarrship ProgrammeBright Start The Bright Start Scholarship Programme provides access to further education to the smartest children in India's most economically challenged families; children who are carefully selected by YUVA Unstoppable via a rigorous selection process that takes into consideration their academic ability and their social economic background (family income less £3,000 per annum). With your support of £1,500 (equivalent to only £250 per year) and a top up grant of up to £500 from One Kind Act and Yuva Unstoppable, we will be able to provide a child from 15 years old with 6 years of education, mentoring and support through university to their first job.Your donation will not be handed over to the beneficiary but will be handled by YUVA over the 6 years to pay for all educational expenses of admission to college, tuition fees, stationery, textbooks, college projects and field trips. And whilst your donation will be directly supporting the full educational needs of the child, our partnership will ensure that the families get any financial support they require to see through their child’s education. In addition to your donation, we offer you an opportunity to effectively adopt your child and get to know them personally through modern technology, mentor them to help them grow and inspire them to dream and realise their ambitions. You will be regularly appraised of their performance and achievements. Education is a human right and a public responsibility. Please help us to help to change the trajectory of the lives of talented children, to invest in a more sustainable future for them and to help them give back to their community in a way that simply was not possible before. How to Donate Sponsor a Child£1500 from your group of family or friends to sponsor a child for 6 years of further educationSelect Sponsor a Child aboveGeneral SupportAny smaller amount to help support ancillary costs of improving upon their educational experience. Christmas Appeal 2020
28 Sep 2020 - 31 Dec 2020
One Kind Act are proud to announce the launch of their Christmas Appeal 2020 with immediate effect: Year-on-year, we at One Kind Act see financially burdened families and the homeless suffer hugely with the realities of food poverty. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought further misery to thousands more adults and children. As Christmas approaches, this hardship will be more acute. One Kind Act are looking to support various Causes, including LCK, OFFL & SWAT, that do amazing work to help make the festive season more bearable. Ensuring that there is some joy this festive period for some of the most deprived in our local community is our aim.... Firstly, we would like to continue to be able to buy small gifts for children. This, in the past, has given a great deal of pleasure to the communities’ children. Secondly, it would be lovely to be able to deliver Christmas food bags to enable vulnerable families to have additional festive foods in addition to their normal food bags. Finally, we would like to continue with our Christmas bag deliveries to the homeless. These bags contain gloves, blankets, thermals etc as well as Christmas treats to make the season more bearable… whilst they continue to try to survive on the streets of London through the harsh weather conditions of winter. Please support us to help these Causes. Please pledge here, as follows: £10 to buy a child a Christmas present £10 to buy & deliver a bag of festive foods to vulnerable families £20 to buy and deliver all the winter necessities to the homeless. Thank you for reading this and we hope you will be able to help us help others who have hit hard times, particularly as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. Orley Farm Christmas Appeal 2020
15 Nov 2020 - 11 Dec 2020
Orley Farm School is delighted to announce its forthcoming event, Christmas Appeal 2020: Dear Orley Farm community, Make a difference in someone’s life this Christmas! As Christmas approaches, we the OFA have been thinking about the challenges so many have faced over the last 6 to 8 months. We have also reflected on the worthwhile work we have carried out as a community and especially the success of the Giving Grotto in recent years. With this 'giving' in mind and the desire to continue to instil this virtue in our children, this year we will support 3 outstanding causes:Buy a child a gift for Christmas In the past, our Giving Grotto has put a smile on the faces of many underprivileged children. So we see this as a continuation of this. • Therefore, donating as little as £10 would buy a child a Christmas present to open Christmas morning Provide Christmas homeless bagsThese bags will contain gloves, blankets, thermals etc as well as Christmas treats to make the season more bearable, while those without shelter continue to sleep outside during the darkest and coldest nights of the year. • Donating only £20 will provide these essentialsChristmas Food bags for families in need Providing festive food and essentials to the vulnerable elderly of our local community and also underprivileged families who would otherwise go without, in particular, during this time of goodwill to all. • £10 will achieve thisThank you for your extraordinary kindness in making a difference to these vulnerable pockets of our community. Please Donate (no amount is too small) Seasonal Greetings, Your OFA TeamAbout One Kind Act One Kind Act Changes Communities and lives of others globally who suffer as a result of Poverty of Health, Nutrition and Education and may have Fallen Through The Net of the larger charities. From Us to You
05 Dec 2020 - 31 Dec 2020
Zane and Kyzen Hosein are delighted to announce 'From Us to You''DetailsHi, we are Zane and Kyzen,Last year, we decided together with some friends, instead of spending money on giving each other Christmas presents, we decided to donate the money to the children and families who needed the help. This year we have decided between my brother and I, that we would like to extend this to other friends and family members. So instead of receiving a gift this Christmas we would like our friends and family to donate here and put a smile on someone else’s face who needs it more this year. Even if you don’t give us a Christmas present but want to donate, that would be amazing too!!!Thank you from both of us.About One Kind ActOne Kind Act Changes Communities and lives of others globally who suffer as a result of Poverty of Health, Nutrition and Education and may have Fallen Through The Net of the larger charities.
