In Loving Memory of Urmilaben Narendra Thakkar …….

Urmilaben Narendra Thakkar MBE was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  Beside her versatile and prolific love of dance and music as well as serving as a radio presenter on Sunrise Radio, she committed her life to the emancipation of women and serving the elderly. A pioneering trailblazer in leading her community towards international recognition, raising the profile of Asian women and improving the lives of the elderly with the formation of the first Asian Senior Ladies group where elders are encouraged to learn life skills, meet likeminded people and enjoy social events.

Her lifelong dedication to her community led to her being recognised and awarded an MBE in 2011. A much loved, enigmatic and personable character who dedicated her life to the betterment of society.

Urmilaben would take pride in supporting charitable causes that profoundly improve lives.

Our wish is to continue her legacy through the exceptional work undertaken by a UK-registered charity, ONE KIND ACT who, amongst other work, help children from underprivileged/low income backgrounds in India.
