PreLoved Fashion Event
28 Oct 2024 - 31 Dec 2024
One Kind Act are proud to announce the PreLoved Fashion Event: Slowing Down Fast Fashion: A Story of ChangeIn today’s world, fast fashion dominates. Cheap clothing is just a click away, fuelling a consumption rate that’s unprecedented. I'm Aarti, the founder of The Space Curator. I specialise in helping clients organise their homes, making what they own more visible to save both waste and money. Through assisting many clients in decluttering their wardrobes, I've noticed a striking trend: beautiful clothing, often in near-new condition, languishing unseen at the back of closets. This realisation sparked a vision. With preloved fashion platforms like Vinted gaining popularity, I saw the potential to bring this movement further into the public consciousness. I teamed up with Zamiha, CEO and founder of Recommend Asian, and together we conceptualised the Preloved Fashion Event. Our purpose was not just to promote sustainable fashion but also to support a worthy cause—London’s Community Kitchen.Upon meeting Taz Khan and his dedicated volunteer team, we immediately felt aligned with their mission. Their commitment to Zero Waste and Zero Hunger perfectly complements our goal of reducing fashion industry waste. Did you know that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions? Moreover, extending the life of clothing by just nine months can reduce environmental impact by 20-30%. Furthermore, 95% of disposed clothing could be recycled or upcycled, underscoring the importance of preloved fashion.Join us in supporting this cause. How it Works● Bring your preloved Women’s Eastern and Western donations (excellent condition & laundered) to The Recommended Asian Hub● Drop off dates !Between 4-22nd November Mon-Fri 9am-5pm ● Join us to pick up a bargain from as little as £5 on 24th November 11am-5pm (remember to bring a bag)Location detailsThe RA HubThe Northwood ClubChestnut AvenueHA6-1HRWith insightful talks from our guest stylist Mina Kumari, The Body Confidence Coach, and expert wardrobe organisation tips from me, Aarti, The Space Curator, we promise an inspiring day.Together, we can look great, feel confident, and champion a more sustainable future. Let’s embrace the change, one piece of clothing at a time.We Look forward to seeing you there.Aarti, Zamiha and TeamAbout One Kind ActOne Kind Act Changes Communities and lives of others globally who suffer as a result of Poverty of Health, Nutrition and Education and may have Fallen Through The Net of the larger charities. Christmas Appeal 2024
01 Oct 2024 - 31 Dec 2024
One Kind Act are proud to announce our Christmas Appeal 2024:As the festive season draws near, we are reminded of the message of goodwill to all at this joyous time. However, for many it will just be a daily reminder of the hunger they feel each day . Some will dread the season as the temperature drops and they feel the reality of being homeless in the cold days and wintery nights. For many parents, a sense of lack sets in as they struggle to give their children the simplest of gifts. By supporting charity London’s Community Kitchen, One Kind Act have continued year-in and year-out to provide for food bags and Christmas holiday hunger provision for families as well as presents for the most deprived children in our communities. Moreso, through charities NishkamSwat and OFFL, who both work with the homeless all through the year, we have provided for warm clothes and essential winter toiletries, both of which are much needed by the destitute out on the streets. One Kind Act once again wishes to support these three charities. We are hoping for your support. Every penny you donate here will be granted to them so that they can support the most vulnerable communities. Isn’t this the true meaning of Christmas and what we really want for Christmas ? PLEASE PLEDGE on this page. Every penny you donate really counts. Give A Child A Vision
01 Apr 2024 - 28 Feb 2025
One Kind Act are delighted to announce our forthcoming Fundraiser, Give A Child A Vision:DetailsABLE, one of our noble Causes, carries out many lifesaving treatments in India to those who cannot afford them. Their most important role is helping those with sight problems. They regularly offer lifesaving cataract surgeries that change lives - One Kind Act has to date supported over 500 such cataract surgeries. A new initiative to improve sight provision in children is their new vision. Checking approximately half a million children in the surrounding areas of where ABLE operate, they suspect that 125,000 will need spectacles. At just £4 for a pair of spectacles, One Kind Act would like to help them reach more children and change their outcomes. The cost of £4 includes ABLE going into the schools, eye examination, procuring the prescribed spectacles and returning to the schools for the fitting. ABLE suspect that from the children that are screened, 10,000 will need major operations. These interventions at a young age are vital to a child’s health and their ongoing development and of course, to the impact on their educational journey. Thank You for your kindness and support. Jai's Journey in Education
01 Oct 2024 - 31 Jan 2025
One Kind Act are proud to announce Jai's Journey in Education:My Journey in Education: 'We Rise By Lifting Others'My name is Jai Dev. I am a 14-year-old student at Haberdashers Boys school in North London. I recently spent an impactful summer volunteering at Rameshwar Vidya Mandir School in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. I had the privilege of teaching Year 6 students at a school in one of the biggest slum areas of Mumbai. Braving the monsoon rains with a 40-minute commute each day, I visited the school as a seasonal teacher for kids aged 11-12yrs .The opportunity was a humbling and transformative experience, a view into a world of those less fortunate than I. Affectionately known as 'Jai Sir' to a student community of 65, I was able to provide academic progress, deepen their sense of confidence and infuse a love of learning in their everyday lives. Working side by side with the children, we were able to flex our curiosity while being playful and explorative in the worlds of Math, English and Science. I realised that although I have an abundance of learning opportunities in my privileged life, there are other more enriching ways to learn that extend beyond the four walls of a classroom. I learned so much about myself and others by giving back to a large disadvantaged school community by immersing myself in a radically different environment and by forming trusted relationships with children who I might not have otherwise met. The greatest lesson of all for me was that we rise by lifting others. I am launching a fundraiser to help improve much needed sanitation in the school, to increase the number of digital classrooms and to provide scholarships for the 97 children who cannot afford the annual school tuition of £20. These are fundamentals, things we take for granted in our everyday lives but for the children at Rameshwar Vidya Mandir School, they are a luxury. I humbly request your support. School community, family, friends please help me raise these necessary funds so I can continue to support this incredible school from afar. Well, until I visit again as 'Jai Sir' next summer. Thank you for taking the time to read about my story. Please take a moment to watch the video which shares my incredible journey with the children. They are not just my students but my dear friends too - a new and beautiful extension of my growing global community. This incredible opportunity was made possible through One Kind Act and their supporting local NGO, YUVA Unstoppable.Hear all about Jai's Journey when you click on his video link - https://youtu.be/MRsa7UgQDmYAbout One Kind ActOne Kind Act Changes Communities and lives of others globally who suffer as a result of Poverty of Health, Nutrition and Education and may have Fallen Through The Net of the larger charities.
