One Kind Act are proud to announce the PreLoved Fashion Event:
Slowing Down Fast Fashion: A Story of Change
In today’s world, fast fashion dominates. Cheap clothing is just a click away, fuelling a consumption rate that’s unprecedented. I'm Aarti, the founder of The Space Curator. I specialise in helping clients organise their homes, making what they own more visible to save both waste and money. Through assisting many clients in decluttering their wardrobes, I've noticed a striking trend: beautiful clothing, often in near-new condition, languishing unseen at the back of closets.
This realisation sparked a vision. With preloved fashion platforms like Vinted gaining popularity, I saw the potential to bring this movement further into the public consciousness. I teamed up with Zamiha, CEO and founder of Recommend Asian, and together we conceptualised the Preloved Fashion Event. Our purpose was not just to promote sustainable fashion but also to support a worthy cause—London’s Community Kitchen.
Upon meeting Taz Khan and his dedicated volunteer team, we immediately felt aligned with their mission. Their commitment to Zero Waste and Zero Hunger perfectly complements our goal of reducing fashion industry waste.
Did you know that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions?
Moreover, extending the life of clothing by just nine months can reduce environmental impact by 20-30%.
Furthermore, 95% of disposed clothing could be recycled or upcycled, underscoring the importance of preloved fashion.
Join us in supporting this cause.
